How the Freeze Miser® works

Unlike the manual drip method, the Freeze Miser is engineered to only release a minimal amount of water to prevent faucets from freezing. Its patented design allows the freeze miser to sense the internal water temperature and releases water below 37°F/3°C. As the water temperature fluctuates, the freeze miser automatically regulates the drip rate. This fluctuation ensures reliable faucet freeze protection releasing the least amount of water, even in the most extreme freezing conditions.

Until the activation temperature of 37°F/3°C is reached, water is not allowed to drip. After the water temperature has dropped to 37°F/3°C or slightly below, the Freeze Miser will release a minimum amount of water until the internal water temperature returns to above 37°F/3°C and then stop the water release. 

A significant amount of water is wasted as a result of faucets that utilize the manual drip method to prevent them from freezing. Typically, the faucet will be dripping water at a speed that prevents the faucet from freezing at the coldest temperature expected. This method wastes a lot of water. The Freeze Miser provides the same method of freeze protection using the least amount of water possible.

How to Use It

1. Hand-Tighten the Freeze Miser on your exterior faucet.
2. Open the faucet all the way to ensure that water pressure is available to the Freeze Miser (minimum 10 PSI).
